Malawi x Northern Lights Auto is the first 100% autoflowering variety from ACE Seeds.
A Sativa/Indica/Rudelaris hybrid with excellent vigour and structure, producing a huge and heavy main cola and vigorous side branches full of resinous buds. Its production and quality will surprise even the most experienced autoflowering growers.
The current improved F4-F5 version of this hybrid produces 2 main phenotypes. The first phenotype produces potent sativa/indica plants (with a flowering time of around 9 1/2 weeks), with huge yields, very complex terpene profiles, abundant resin production and an excellent flower/leaf ratio. The second phenotype develops an almost pure sativa expression in flower (so it usually takes around 10 weeks of flowering), reaches large sizes and produces a more open and separate branching from the main stem, allowing autoflowering growers to experience very African sativa phenotypes, which are quite rare in current autoflowering varieties.
The growth of Malawi x Northern Lights Autoflowering
As is common with autoflowering varieties, Auto Malawi x Northern Lights begins flowering as early as 4 or 5 weeks after germination, regardless of the indoor photoperiod or outdoor season, allowing it to mature properly at latitudes far from the equator, where light-dependent varieties begin flowering too late to mature properly. It is therefore important to maximise growth as much as possible by using pots of at least 7 litres for indoor cultivation and pots of at least 15 - 20 litres for outdoor cultivation from the outset.
It can also be cultivated in mid-latitudes and will be ready in summer if you grow it in spring. This allows it to benefit from the longest days with the highest light intensity and warmer temperatures during the flowering period, finishing months before the usual autumn harvest of light-dependent varieties.
It has excellent adaptability in indoor cultivation, where it can be flowered and harvested alongside the mothers with a growing photoperiod, so that a harvest can be obtained without having to prepare another growing area with different photoperiods, as is the case with the light-dependent varieties.
The higher yielding sativa/indica phenotypes require moderate/high levels of nutrients, while the more extreme sativa phenotypes require gentle fertilisation.
The colas of the very high-yielding sativa/indica phenotypes usually need support in the late flowering period, as they reach an enormous volume and weight at the end of the flowering period.
Their resistance to spider mites, botrytis and whiteflies is average-high, their resistance to mildew, cold and heat is high.
The effect of Malawi x Northern Lights Autoflowering
It has 3 easily distinguishable phases: It starts with a sensual, mentally uplifting effect that stimulates the mind; then it becomes denser, warm and dreamy and ends with a pleasant, narcotic and relaxing effect.
The smell and flavour of Malawi x Northern Lights Autoflowering
The terpene profiles are fragrant and complex. The flavours during flowering can vary between Petit Suisse, strawberry yoghurt and fruity juice (pineapple, pear, peach) in the higher-yielding green Sativa/Indica phenotypes. The most extreme sativa phenotypes have woodier flavours and a longer flowering time. Other flavours of liquor, sweet, floral and resinous notes, such as cereal with honey, that makes this variety so unique.
