“4 Assed Monkey” - Anyone who knows Mephisto knows that the masters don't just use a name to sell seeds, jump on the hype bandwagon or profit from the hard work of others. That's not their way!
To develop a new autoflowering strain that really bears a distinct resemblance to the photoperiod strain the guys are starting with takes a lot of commitment, even more than the usual high amount of work and time they put in.
In their opinion and experience, it can take three crosses with the desired photoperiod to really fix the traits and feel comfortable putting the little word “auto” in front or behind the name of a famous strain. This work can easily take 5-6 years. This one-time cross of Gorilla Glue #4 with their Grape Crinkle alone, developed and tested over 4 generations into a fully automatic strain, took over 2 years.
Initially the masters made a cross of GG#4 x Ripley's OG and also GG#4 with Grape Crinkle for evaluation, but after growing out the F1 they decided on the cross of GG#4 and Grape Crinkle as the strain to develop. Mephisto is very happy with the result and they named the strain “4 Assed Monkey” to honor its relationship with Gorilla Glue #4 and to allude to the namesake of their company, Dr. Mephisto, who bred five “Assed Monkeys” in his lab.
On their crazy farm, they develop 4 Assed Monkeys, so the name 4 Assed Monkey seems quite poetic. This plant is fast, glistens with frost, has a high terpene content and has become something unique that most of them are very proud of.
The growth of 4 Assed Monkey
4 Assed Monkey is a really fast autoflower (65 - 75 days total cycle) that flowers early and gives off its sparkling resins. Mephisto would classify her as small to medium sized. Given room to spread out and a good environment, it will produce good yields, but is also well suited to smaller spaces or growing at higher planting densities. To support its growth, they would recommend some leaf pruning and gentle manipulation, but due to its usually short vegetation period, it is not suitable for heavy manipulation and harsh training techniques.
The flowers are densely formed and covered in sparkling resin. This lady looks simply stunning!
