Sweet Purple is a Variety bred for the northern hemisphere and thrives in gardens where the climate and temperatures are unpredictable.
It is an old-school plant, both in appearance and product. Its heritage is Thai, a nod to the coveted varieties that sent 'Hippy Trail' travellers deep into the forests and mountains of Thailand in the 1970s in search of the ultimate weed.
The growth of Sweet Purple
This Variety was developed as a solution to many of the problems that plague outdoor growers in latitudes above 50º, where mould can be a particular problem at harvest time. Sweet Purple is the solution! It survives and thrives in a habitat where many other plants have problems.
The Thai line has been crossed with robust Dutch genetics to produce a plant that is self-sufficient from the forests of Slovenia to the gardens of Canada and England to Scandinavia. Of course, it will also grow and produce a decent harvest in southern regions, but this plant is truly a gift from paradise to those who need to cultivate their weather-beleaguered gardens north of 50ºN. This is the safest variety you can get in temperate countries.
Sweet Purple is a modern marvel for growers in colder climates. It tolerates cold and wet and still grows over 2 metres tall if you let it. The stems grow thick and the leaves bushy. The relatively short flowering time means that you can harvest around the time of the harvest festival.
Indoors, you can harvest 400 grams/m² after just 7 - 8 weeks of flowering. Outdoors, you can harvest at the end of September to the beginning of October.
The effect of Sweet Purple
The effect of Sweet Purple reflects its predatory status. It blends into its surroundings, a pleasant high that permeates the body and gives a feeling of controlled calm with every movement, yet it also has a clear side that focuses the mind and promotes concentration. It is also a favourite with artists and writers looking for contemplative meditation.
The smell and flavour of Sweet Purple
The sweet and minty herbal bouquet that gave this Variety its name is a credit to this plant.
