On one side of the cross you have Gelato, descended from Sunset Sherbet and the Thin Mint phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies: colourful, resin-heavy flowers with a creamy, sweet dessert profile and a clearly uplifting mental component. On the other side sits OG Kush, one of the most influential US strains of all time, known worldwide for its pine, lemon and diesel character and its deep, body-oriented effect.
For Gelato Kush we paired a selected Gelato phenotype, used as pollen donor, with our own OG Kush mother from Oakland, California. During selection we specifically looked for plants that combined the creamy, citrus-driven sweetness of Gelato with the earthy, gassy depth and structure of OG Kush. Only those lines that repeatedly showed this profile – compact, heavy buds with citrus, pine and creamy notes – made it into the Seeds66 version of Gelato Kush.
Growth & cultivation
Indoors, Gelato Kush usually reaches between 90 and 120 cm, forming a solid main stem with strong side branches. The structure is clearly indica-leaning: compact, easy to control and well suited to rooms where height is limited. Gentle topping or light training during veg helps to create an even canopy and make the most of the available light. Under strong lights and a balanced feeding regime, 500–600 g/m² are a realistic target for many set-ups.
Outdoors, Gelato Kush can grow up to around 220 cm if given enough root space and direct sun. She prefers loose, well-draining soil, a sheltered location and a steady but not excessive nutrient supply. Harvest time is normally towards the end of September, which puts her within range even in more temperate regions when the late season cooperates.
Seeds66 tip: Give Gelato Kush proper support before the final swell. Her side branches can carry a lot of weight in late flower, and a simple trellis or a few well-placed stakes often make the difference between upright, well-lit tops and branches that bend out of the sweet spot.
