Belladonna - literally translated as "the beautiful woman" - is a cross between Super Skunk, the famous Dutch Variety that set new standards in the 1980s and 1990s, and a potent male Sativa (F1 hybrid) from the Paradise Seeds collection. The result is a plant that is predominantly Sativa, but also has a clear Indica influence. It has a unique, very strong and long-lasting effect.
Hot-flowering sativa... This classic plant has won multiple awards and is as popular today as it was 15 years ago when it was first launched, thanks to its fast flowering time and classic sativa energy.
When it appeared on the market in the late 1990s, it became an overnight favourite among growers in the USA, Spain and the Netherlands, thanks to its commercial potential and excellent testimonials in online forums. It is a versatile plant that can adapt effectively to many environments and rewards the grower with a rich combination of vigour and yield.
The growth of Belladonna
Belladonna is great to grow indoors with its flowering time of around 8 - 9 weeks remaining a very popular choice with indoor growers. The ease of handling - it requires little specific care - makes it a good plant for beginners looking for an appealing harvest, and old school growers also grow it again and again. The buds are firm and the foliage is less dense than usual, giving this Variety a good natural defence against mould and fungal infestation. Belladonna is particularly recommended for growers with a SOG (Sea of Green) setup. The indoor yield is around 450 grams/m².
Outdoors, this hot-flowering sativa has remained the Variety of choice for many outdoor growers in both northern and southern regions. It does very well in warmer climates, where the sun fuels strong vigorous growth, and was super-popular when the outdoor growing revolution arrived in Spain in the 1990s. As this plant has been bred for mould resistance, sativa-savvy growers in northern countries and more temperate regions, where autumn weather is unpredictable, also often rely on this horse. These cannabis seeds are suitable for outdoor cultivation between 55º n. B. and 55º S. B. suitable. Belladonna is ready for harvest outdoors (N.B.) in early/mid-October and yields up to 800 grams per plant.
Belladonna's buds are not the biggest, but they are very numerous, dense and fat, decorated with eye-catching orange stigmas (the high flower/leaf ratio is pleasantly noticeable when harvesting).
The effect of Belladonna
Pleasure-related: Belladonna cannabis seeds produce a nicely balanced plant. The initial sativa effect creates euphoria in the head and provides uplifting energy, but over time a long-lasting indica relaxation also comes into play. Belladonna is also known to have a more mind-expanding effect than many other varieties. Which makes it a popular choice when it comes to creativity and alternative world views. However, it is not recommended for those prone to anxiety.
Medicinal: Whilst Belladonna is not our very first recommendation for medicinal users, it can still prove to be therapeutically useful.
The smell and flavour of belladonna
The resin-covered buds that Belladonna produces are very rich in trichomes, making this Variety a plant that is beautiful to look at and fruity in flavour, with a pronounced sweetness that comes to the fore once the buds have dried.
