Strawberry Nuggets Auto was not a project Mephisto did on the side. The strain came out of several selection processes, with 24 Carat as the auto base. This strain plays an important role because it counts among their early in-house works.
For the second parent, the choice fell on Sour Strawberry Kush from BOG. They were not looking for just any addition, but exactly this direction: compact flowers, lots of resin and a profile with a sweet strawberry direction, plus skunky and lightly sour notes. That matched what Mephisto wanted to develop further out of 24 Carat.
Already in the regular phase of 24 Carat, different color phenos showed up. Alongside the later main type, pink and purple phenotypes also appeared. For Strawberry Nuggets, Mephisto picked up the pink type and started from there.
In the following generations, the focus was on resin, dense flowers, color and a deep strawberry profile. Out of that came a short, compact auto with firm buds, a strong indica direction and a skunky strawberry aroma.
The growth of Strawberry Nuggets
Strawberry Nuggets stays small. It puts on mass quickly, grows wide and looks squat. The main stem is strong, the side branches stand stable. On top of that come broad fan leaves and a lot of leaf mass, which makes the plant become very dense very quickly.
That is exactly the point to watch. Anyone who wants to bring more light and air to the branches indoors will need to thin it out from time to time. Training works, but with this tight structure it is not that easy.
It goes into flower quickly. Because of that, a clean start makes a big difference, since it does not stay in growth mode for long. Resin comes early, later the flowers become very firm. From the middle flowering phase onward, climate and air movement therefore need to run cleanly. That needs to be under control, otherwise there is a risk of mold.
Depending on the phenotype, it stays green or shows pink tones. More rarely, purple plants also appear. Strawberry Nuggets does not grow completely uniformly, but the basic structure stays similar: small, wide, compact. In many setups it is finished after around 65 days from germination, but overall the cycle usually sits around 70 to 80 days.
The effect of Strawberry Nuggets
Strawberry Nuggets goes clearly in the indica direction. The effect is physical but also goes into the head, makes you calm and can turn narcotic quickly. Many use it more in the evening. It makes you hungry and belongs in the couchy section.
Smell and taste of Strawberry Nuggets
The aroma carries a sweet strawberry direction, along with berry notes and sour skunky notes. Depending on the phenotype, the profile comes across fruitier or a bit earthier and harsher. In taste it stays a mix of berries and sweetness. Not a typical candy strain.
