El Patron is another new strain from Royal Queen Seeds that won an award at the prestigious Highlife Cannabis Cup. More specifically, the class that involves soil grown strains.
The parent line is very interesting. On the one hand, we have Royal Queen Seeds' proprietary AMG (Amnesia Mac Ganja), which is a sativa-dominant hybrid and is highly prized by cannabis connoisseurs for its stimulating effects. The other parent is Shiva, a pure Indian indica strain with bountiful yields and her sedative effects.
This sensitive blend results in El Patron, a modern hybrid with a 60:40 sativa/indica ratio.
The growth of the El Patron
Despite carrying more indica than sativa genes, El Patron grows very compact and bushy. Planted indoors, it reaches an average height of 90 - 130 centimeters. The yield is impressive and is around 500 grams per square meter. According to Royal Queen Seeds, the pure flowering time is 9 to 10 weeks.
Grown outdoors, she will grow larger, reaching a height of up to 2 meters. The harvest time is at the end of October, which can be problematic in the northern parts of Europe, where relatively large amounts of autumn rain are to be expected. Outdoors you can expect a yield of up to 600 grams per plant.
The Effect of El Patron
The effect is typical of a hybrid. First comes a strong "head high" that gets the thoughts flowing and positive energy flowing through the body. After some time, the indica will kick in and you'll feel the pleasant calming effects of El Patron.
All in all, a wonderfully balanced mix of both the worlds of indica and sativa. The THC level is high at around 22%, which is very strong but not overwhelming. Whether watching TV or going out to eat, the El Patron is a good companion in every situation.
Smell and taste of the EL Patron
The smell of the El Patron is immediately reminiscent of lemon and a typical "Kusharoma" is in the air. When smoking itself, one tastes a peppery note and floral undertones. Very tasty and intense.
