California Indica combines 3 very well-known strains. California Orange Bud provides the fruity part. NL #1 makes it very productive. And Hash Plant is responsible for the resin production and the heavy indica character. In the Seeds66 selection, this exact mix was intentional: a fruity base with oldschool character.
Growth & cultivation
California Indica grows very vigorously. The nodes sit close together on a stable main stem. Under LED it performs best with moderate distance from the light and reliable air movement. Despite the short flowering time of around 50 days, it produces plenty of flower mass. Substrate that stays too wet slows it down during growth. A better approach is a well-timed watering rhythm where you only water once the pot has become lighter when you lift it.
Outdoor it also stays compact to medium-sized. A good strain if you want to grow discreetly outside.
Seeds66 tip: California Indica benefits more from increased air movement from mid-flower onward than from additional fertilizer, because unlike a sativa strain the flowering time is very short.
Aroma & terpenes
The smell goes straight toward orange and lemon. Behind that comes a spicy hash note, herbs and a bit of earthiness. This exact combination is what makes California Indica interesting. The first impression is fruity, then it starts to recall the hash of the 70s. Once dried, the spicy side usually becomes even more pronounced. The main terpenes of this strain are limonene and myrcene.
Effect
California Indica begins with a light and pleasant head high. Shortly after, the body side comes in right away. Shoulders and back get heavier and the stoned feeling settles in quite comfortably rather than hitting like a hammer. Put simply, this is a strain that does not knock you out immediately after the third hit.
